Prince Harry

Is being withdrawn from Afghanistan today because it was publicly announced that he was there!

I am hereby announcing that my Uncle Joe is in Afghanistan, and therefore I want him withdrawn immediately, since they now know he is there!

I can't do much about the 4,000 Americans killed so far, and the 30-40 thousand wounded, but maybe if we announced the names of those still there, as being there, they could be withdrawn?

How many Windsors do they need to be King anyway? Actually, Hewitt may be his name!

When Thomas Jefferson wrote, in the Declaration of Independence, that all men are created equal, it's not racial equality he had in mind.

What he had in mind was the notion that some of us try to pass ourselves off as princes while the rest of us are supposedly common folks, not part of the nobility. There is no such thing as a prince, or blue blood, or any such nonsense. Dr. Seuss explained the phenomenon well in The Sneetches. If the American press (and public) had any sense, it would always refer to Harry as the alleged prince. This red-headed kid is no more a prince than I am.

You are correct!
I think Jefferson had many slaves.
These slaves weren't considered as anything but chattel.

What we have now are con artists and others!

Prince Harry was born a Prince. No one here accepts the notion obviously or we would have a few. To his credit, the kid wanted to do something. Now that the cat is out of the bag...he has to come home, or risk the safety of everyone around him because he would be a delectable bulls eye.

How you guys inject race into it is awful. I'm sick of this BS. I've lived many places and I must say this is the only one where ..SOME... Blacks, and that is key here, wear their race as a badge of 'you owe me'. You are a discredit to every black that has made it on their own.

My family was one of the biggest slaveholders in the county. I don't own you anything. That was a zillion years ago.

It might interest you to do a little research on it before you open your mouth. I have, and it is quite interesting.

Very few people came under good circumstances. If you read up on the colonies, whites, were sold to people right and left in the beginning. The same thing as the blacks did to their own. In England if you were a vagrant, orphan, or petty criminal, you were picked up off the streets and sold for 7 years to people in the colonies. There were also political exiles, that is, people who fought against the English crown and lost. Those were in hot demand because they were young able bodied men. Same deal, 7 years slavery. The deal was, the owner knew he had them for only seven years and worked half of them to death. The life expectancy of white slaves was only 1 in 3 lived out the 7 years. The English hated the Irish and the Scots with a passion and thought of them as sub human. It might also interest you to know that the northern colonies were the 1st to get white slaves.

After the Revolutionary war, We told the English to stuff it, and they turned to Australia and made it a penal colony. You might want to ask yourself why so many thieves in England. Simply good business is the way the English felt about it. If they couldn't colonize one way, they would do it another. They made a LOT of money off this. The Royal family made a killing off selling our ancestors.

Now, some of the white slaves lived, mine did. It is hard to run several thousand acres with just you and the wife and a hoe. They got Black slaves sold to them by Blacks. The difference is, since these guys had been slaves, they didn't treat theirs as bad. They could also resale them, something they couldn't do with the white ones. A lot of these whites let their slaves go after a few years. Mine let a lot of theirs go. The problem came in that they couldn't go far from their old masters because someone else could claim they were a runaway and re enslave them again. Usually they stayed in the community and worked their own land. Yeah! Go back to the the early census and see how many free blacks there were! Not all stayed slaves. Some of them even got their own.

Slavery was wrong, but it was much more complicated than people realize. Many Blacks and Whites were much closer than you think.

I feel that when they had the 1840/1850 potato famine in Ireland, that would have soon done away with slavery after a few years. Reason? The Irish were starving and coming here in boat loads. They would do anything to eat. The Mississippi levees were built by Irish, not Blacks. The Blacks were expensive and there was Malaria. The Irish died by the thousands building those levees, people would not risk their expensive slaves like that. Irish were much cheaper to work. You didn't have to pay for their housing, food, or clothes, and if they died, oh well, you weren't out any money and didn't know them. Cruel, but true.
In the civil war, there were probably more Irish, than any other group. One of several reasons they fought was they were starving. Someone was going to give them food, clothes, and of course, a gun. Gun and all, they were happy with the deal. The Blacks called them white trash and many Irish were jealous of the Blacks because someone took care of them. Something the Irish didn't have. He worked or starved. Sometimes, he worked and starved anyway.

All I'm telling you is this, every group came here under horrible conditions. Am I mad at the Royal family and want them to give me some money? Or do I wish Prince Harry would get shot cause he owes me a thing or two? Nope, that was just the way it was and that was a long time ago. My ancestors were used, but they took that and made something of themselves and they started a wonderful journey in life that left the promise of a better one for their kids. I wouldn't take anything for them coming here, and feel it is my good luck.
We ..ALL... owe it to our ancestors to take what we have a live it to the fullest. They gave their blood sweat and tears for it. Be happy and grateful for what you have, not what you think someone owes you. I guarette you my life would not be so great if I was sitting in merry old England and I bet yours wouldn't either sitting in Africa. We have it made! Prince Harry folks don't owe me anything. They can keep the money made by selling my folks into slavery. I feel we came out ok after all.

And who was responsible for rounding up the slaves before they were sold and shipped to the U.S?

Africans!

Well, in the movie "Roots," I think it was other tribes who rounded up their enemies.
In the total affair though, I would think that the rounding-up, as you say, was done by races other than black. It was a way of making money!

Anyway, if all of them had been rounded-up by other tribal blacks, it wouldn't have made the deed any better!

It didn't convince Jefferson or Washington, and others, to not buy their slaves, or even free them for many years.
