Something else not revealed PeteSake: Something for Fayette Countians to think about...So another resident of Kedron Hills has registered to run for school board. Do you really want someone who just can't get over their kids going to school with kids from outside PTC? fcone: What do we want in FC?We moved to Fay Co well over a decade ago. We specifically chose to move here because it was special in so many ways-Schools, amenities, uniqueness (cart paths, rec facilities, etc.). Over the recent years I feel as though we are losing some of that "uniqueness". My biggest concern is that I don't see a push to bring it back. As I read the comments on here I hear people questioning each and every "upgrade" as not necessary. First, before you call me self centered my children have been long grown and gone. I would like to offer a different perspective. I wish we had more bike trails throughout the county (I don't bike, but I do walk), a nice swimming facility, astro-turf fields, great technology in schools, nice public golf courses (I don't golf), more manicured public property such as parks, even an ice rink (w/o the private party benefitting). My point is this-I am willing to pay for these very expensive items through property taxes because I consider them an investment in the future. TonyF: Bonkers:What happened to you? You don't seem to be trying your cynical comedy material on everyone here anymore. I actually find myself not totally disagreeing with everything you say (I know it's left-handed). To my old friend and new coach of McIntosh, Glenn "Bear" Griffin, I hope you win all but the game against FCHS, you have picked a tough row to hoe for your first head coaching job, but you're up to it my friend, and I hope the McIntosh parents and kids know how lucky they are to have you as their coach. Margot: Janet Smola Votes for Higher TaxesFayette School Board member Janet Smola voted to increase property taxes to $90 Million. While the State of Georgia cut education expenses, the school board decides to increase spending. Keith Ross: McCain chooses woman as running mateMcCain’s choice for a woman running mate is historic, but who is he picking? Ok she’s an Alaskan governor, but only has been for 3 months or so. sniffles5: SPLOST: $4 Million Dollars for ARTIFICIAL TURF?I actually got a peek at the school board's formal SPLOST documentation this morning. Buried in the details was a line item for replacing the grass at Fayette county stadiums with artificial turf. mac614: Firefighters hired out of neccessity? My friend and I were just talking about the Jerry Eddy blog. First off, let me state that I am not mac614, as I have gotten dozens of phone calls from departmental friends wanting to know about " venom " as you call it. Jerry Eddy: Opinion on PTCFD Hiring DecisionsFirst off, I normally wouldn't respond to ridiculousness in an editorial note. Since this is a free speech genre, I feel compelled to. ecalleiro: It's Official - Clayton County Loses It!NUK_1: Clayco Schools officially lose accreditationNo shocker there.
