Opinion on PTCFD Hiring Decisions

First off, I normally wouldn't respond to ridiculousness in an editorial note. Since this is a free speech genre, I feel compelled to. An obvious PTC firefighter has been presenting himself as a friend of same in making cowardly comments viewed in this section by the public. PTC's practice of hiring firefighter/EMT/Paramedics from busy departments that will be in effect working "48s," is an intelligent decision made out of neccessity and with the PTC citizen's best interest @ heart. It is true PTC Fire Department doesn't run very many calls. Therefore, experience with running actual emergency calls is limited if this experience comes only from within. Training is great but it only takes you so far. You have to be able to move that mental aptitude to physical action. This only comes from the " Crap! This is really happening moments." Hold your hand over your mouth and nose. Now, breath. How long can you hold out before you become distressed? Now, imagine you cannot remove your hand. Who do you want coming to your rescue? Is it the paramedic who has trained/scored high on test/and run 2 similar calls? Or, is it the medic who trains/scored high on test/ and has run 100 similar calls? The citizens of PTC need "48ers." They deserve that level of care. The incidents of "48ers" hurting rather than helping citizens are extremely rare. We don't drive the trucks if we've had a rough night before. Point to add: Your Chief is your Chief. That is not going to change. Stop causing trouble with your venom and move on.

Well said! If this fellow worker is concerned for his safety and does not have any respect for the cheif, why not go to another station?
