Obituraries 09-14-2007Eugene McDonald, 72, Palmetto, died Aug. 27, 2007. He was born Oct. 31, 1934 in Jefferson, Ga. He was the owner of McDonald and Son, Inc. Graveside services were at Cedar Rock Cemetery, Jackson, Ga., with the Rev.Calvin Smith officiating. Survivors include his wife, Mary Frances McDonald, Palmetto; a son, Gregory McDonald, Palmetto; and a brother, Wayne McDonald, Gibson. The official role of the Arborist is to enforce the new Tree Preservation Ordinance which was developed to benefit the environment and aesthetic quality of Coweta County. Businessman wants car show movedSenoia furniture magnate Frank Hollberg is not thrilled about the upcoming car show in Senoia’s historic downtown. The car show is Sept.22 from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. and the city’s leaders have agreed to close Main Street to allow the more than 100 vintage cars to be displayed in the city’s business district. City looks to get biggerThe city of Senoia could soon get bigger, thanks to an annexation request. Coweta County Board of Education member and Newnan attorney Mike Sumner asked the City Council Monday night to annex 167 acres at the southeast corner of the Ga. Highway 85 and Ga. Highway 16 intersection. Sumner is acting as the court-appointed guardian for the Roy Tinsley family, who owns the property. Coweta County scores 1504 on SAT; two Coweta High Schools exceed nationThe average score for Coweta County seniors taking the SAT 1 college entrance exam last year was 1504, compared to 1472 for the state of Georgia and 1511 for the nation as a whole, according to figures released by the College Board on Tuesday. New subdivision plat gets OKSenoia’s newest subdivision got the green light from the Senoia Planning Commission Tuesday night. The Newberry subdivision, which will wrap around the old County Line Tavern on Ga. Highway 85, features 141 lots on 153 acres. The subdivision is being developed by Fayetteville-based developer Bob Rolader. Newberry also features 80 acres of open space and 4.5 acres of commercial property on Hwy.85. PTC officials gauging Senoia, Coweta sewer plansA Monday meeting between Senoia and Coweta County officials about expanding sewer service in Senoia drew two interested parties from just across the county line. New center to be dedicated SaturdayThe Wilbon Clay-Robert Wood Community Center will officially be dedicated on Saturday, August 18 at 11 am. Senoia taxes on the riseTaxes are on the rise for residents in Senoia who had their property reassessed this year. On Monday, the Senoia City Council approved the millage rate at 6.11 mills. City administrator Richard Ferry,, presented the breakdown of millage rate and said 18 percent of the city’s tax base industrial, while 9 percent is commercial, and 73 percent residential. There were no public comments and the rate was agreed to unanimously.
