Taxes are on the rise for residents in Senoia who had their property reassessed this year. On Monday, the Senoia City Council approved the millage rate at 6.11 mills. City administrator Richard Ferry,, presented the breakdown of millage rate and said 18 percent of the city’s tax base industrial, while 9 percent is commercial, and 73 percent residential. There were no public comments and the rate was agreed to unanimously.

Ken Barnard, a local resident, spoke during the public comment time about the movie production underway in downtown Senoia and the road closings it has enacted. Barnard asked for the production company to be more considerate and open with their plans, and Mayor Robert Belisle, said a new policy dictates future movie production teams come before the council to inform them of their plans. The proprietor of Gail’s Antiques on Main Street praised the movie production for bringing more people and excitement to Senoia.
