Students head back to school Monday

Though the thermometer still shows readings in the 90s, Coweta County students are headed back to school Monday.

Public information officer Dean Jackson estimated ? students will walk through the halls Monday morning. The biggest change this year is the addition of the ninth grade campuses at Newnan, Northgate and East Coweta high schools that will give freshmen their own campus and also serve as a way for the county’s three high schools to absorb a rapidly-growing population.

Jackson said in a press release this week that parents have two opportunities to visit the schools. Parents can visit Monday or today for orientation.

Middle schools will hold orientation from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., and elementary schools will hold orientation from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.

High school orientation times for new students at Newnan High School from 1-3 p.m..
