Dillard’s brings new shopping experience to the region

Imported marble floors. Dazzling fixtures. The hottest names in fashion.

Those are just a few of the items that shoppers will discover next Wednesday when Dillard’s opens its new location at Ashley Park in Newnan.

The 155,000 sq.ft two-story store is located just off the Newnan Crossing Bypass, behind Dick’s Sporting Goods and offers a shopping experience that residents had to head to Atlanta to achieve.

“I’ve never seen a town with such a buzz about one store,” said manager Randy Kroner.

When the doors open at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday, shoppers will enter one of the more sophisticated stores on the southside. Kroner explained that each new store features a completely new design and takes the best from existing stores.

At the Newnan store, the juniors’ department is one that should please many of the fashion-conscious shoppers with brands including XOXO, rampage and Jessica McClintock. Special events coordinator Dawn Zachman explained the store will host a variety of special events, including a fashion show featuring the Newnan High School junior varsity cheerleaders Sept.15.

The store also features other familiar designers including Michael Kors, Antonio Melani and Peter Nygard. Men can also find some of their favorite designers including Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein.

One of the big draws should be the store’s impressive shoe department.

“We plan to stock more than 40,000 pairs of shoes,” Kroner said. The shoes are stored in a vast area that is organized according to color and size. Women will also find some of the hottest handbags, including Dooney and Dooney and Bourke and Coach.

The store features large shopping areas and has fitting rooms strategically located in each department.

As part of the grand opening celebration, the first 500 shoppers Sept.12 through Sept.16 will receive a key that could unlock several prize giveaways that are valued at more than $20,000. Also, the band B5 will be singing and signing autographs Sept.16 from 2-3 p.m. Fore more information, visit the web site at www.dillards.com.

Let the big stores go to Newnan and Fayetteville. I'll drive from PTC if I need new boxers.

go to the mattresses.

Now he's promoting Dillard's in Newnan. Look at the photo.

A luxury store in a neighborhood of thankfully legal immigrants who live in $150,000 homes? Is there something wrong here? Any real market research done?

Back to my old picture, so I can say "I don't have a dog in this fight" with real feelings.

Nothing like a touch of buckhead in Fayetteville!

So why are we complaining about big box stores? Why didn't PTC get something like this?

We get the creme de la creme, its called Goodwill. While the people in Newnan enter sweet-smelling Dillards, we can smell the moth balls at the Goodwill and even get there on our golf carts! What's wrong with this picture? One thing is for sure...PTC can no longer be called the Bubble!
