County cancels workshop, but issues remainAn early workshop meeting set for Saturday by the Coweta County Commission has been cancelled, but the county still plans to discuss the issues. This year Coweta County 4-H will be camping at Rock Eagle for Cloverleaf 4-H Summer Camp from June 23 – June 27. Newnan fire department participates in burn awareness campaignFebruary 3-9, 2008 is Burn Awareness Week, and the Newnan Fire Department has joined in the efforts with Shriners Hospitals for Children in using this week to kick-off a year-long campaign designed to help prevent gasoline burn injuries. Kids ages 13 and older are in the highest at risk group for gasoline and other flammable substances. Coweta teacher honored by stateArnall Middle School Principal Rick Waggoner has been honored as the Outstanding Middle School Educator of the Year for 2007 by the Georgia Association of Educational Leaders (GAEL). Waggoner, a 36-year educator, has served as Arnall’s principal since 2005. He was chosen by his peers in GAEL’s Georgia Association of Middle School Principals for the state-wide honor. He was honored at this year’s GAEL conference in Savannah and at a recent Georgia state Board of Education meeting.
