In 2006 alone 1,400 dogs, puppies, cats and kittens were euthanized at the Coweta County Animal Control Facility.

Euthanasia occurs there up to three times a week if they run out of room for these homeless pets.

The Newnan-Coweta Humane Society wants to make a lasting difference by building a new No-Kill Shelter and needs the public's help. They have entered the Parade Magazine's America's Giving Challenge, sponsored by Kevin Bacon's Six Degrees Foundations where they can win $50,000 and this prize money is critical to their success in getting their no-kill shelter built.

The top four groups with the highest number of donors giving at least $10 will win $50,000 each for their causes!

The Newnan-Coweta Humane Society is in fifth place right now, but there are a few groups behind them making up ground rapidly. The contest ends January 31.

Donations must be made online through their charity badge in order for it to count on their web site. All donations are tax deductible.

Those of you who can give a minimum of $10 towards this very important cause can do so by going to their web site at: http://www.shelterrescue.org and click on the orange "Donate" button. They've currently raised $10,392 and have received 541 donors. Let's help secure their lead in this contest and get the much needed prize money for their new No-Kill Shelter!

Please join us in helping out in any way that you can and please feel free to share this email with otherrs as well who would like to help support this very important cause.
