Camp registration approaches

It is time to plan summer vacations, activities for the children and 4-H Summer Camp. Every year thousands of youth attend 4-H Summer Camp throughout Georgia. Coweta County 4-H, as a part of the Georgia 4-H Program, is offering camping opportunities at Rock Eagle 4-H Center for current fifth and sixth graders. This year Coweta County 4-H will be camping at Rock Eagle for Cloverleaf 4-H Summer Camp from June 23 – June 27.

Rock Eagle 4-H Center, is located about two hours east of Newnan near Eatonton, Georgia. It is composed of 1,428 acres of forested land that includes a 110 acre lake.

Campers stay busy attending fun yet educational classes that can include learning about raptors, canoeing, wildlife, archery, tennis, and many other exciting activities. They will also participate in numerous recreational activities which include two pools, a water slide and a miniature golf course. They will also attend a ceremony to learn about the Legend of Rock Eagle. Most importantly, they will make new friends along the way.

Safety measures are stressed during ALL activities where students are under the supervision of summer camp staff members, Georgia 4-H agents, program assistants and certified volunteer leaders. All Coweta County volunteers undergo a volunteer screening that includes a background check. If you are a parent or adult that is interested in volunteering for summer camp you will have a great camping experience chaperoning a cabin of 4-H members. Additionally campers at all summer camps are covered with health and accident insurance.

Join us February 9th from 9 am - noon at the Coweta County Extension Office to sign-up for Cloverleaf 4-H Summer Camp. You will need to bring a 4-H Camp Application, a picture of your child and a $75 check or cash deposit (no credit cards). The deposit will be applied towards the total camp cost of $230. Come early to beat the crowd because there are a limited number of spaces available.

If you are interested in signing up your child or teenager for a 4-H Summer Camp please contact the Coweta County Extension Office at 770-254-2620.
