Stan NeelyRobert Stanley "Stan" Neely, 66, Peachtree City, died March 31, 2008. He was one of those instrumental in the formation of the Peachtree City Fire Department. Melissa FerrellMelissa Ferrell, Senoia, died March 16, 2008. She was born Dec. 23, 1959. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Hayes and Mary Helen Leaster. She was a graduate of Newnan High School and had joined the Zion Hill Baptist Church, Newnan, at an early age. Services are Saturday, March 22nd at White Oak Grove Baptist Church, at 1 p.m. Interment is at Eastview Cemetery. James Thomas HudsonJames Thomas Hudson, 75, Newnan, died March 18, 2008. He was born Sept. 1, 1932 in Coweta County, son of the late John and Rosa Hudson. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Duria Hudson Joe Hudson, and Willie L. Hudson, and a sister, Inez Almond. In 1955 he married Elizabeth Steagall and to this union five children were born. In 1990 he married Carey Rogers. He was a member of the Powell Chapel United Methodist Church where he served as chairman of the administrative board, a Sunday School teacher, member of the church development committee for the LaGrange District, and active with the United Methodist Men. He loved following the youth of the church, and was a member of the Board of Directors at C.A.F.I , and member of the AmVets Post 910 - Buffalo Soldiers. His motto was "may the work I've done speak for me." He was employed with Playtex Corporation for many years and was a licensed electrician and plumber. Services were at the Powell Chapel United Methodist Church with interment at Holly Hill Cemetery, Fairburn. Jessie Kate Kelley WingoJessie Kate Kelley Wingo, 82, Newnan, died March 20, 2008. She was born Feb. 6, 1926. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Eula Pullins, husbands, John Wesley Kelley and James Wingo, a son, John Ellis Kelley and a daughter, Annie Kate Kelley. She had joined Mount Vernon First Baptist Church, Newnan, at an early age. She received her education in the Heard County school system. Services were at the Roscoe Jenkins chapel, with interment at Eastview Cemetery. Survivors include a son, Albert and Wendy Kelley; a daughter, Annie Kelley Holloway; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; four brothers-in-law; and four sisters-in-law. John "Jack" Edward GrayJohn "Jack" Edward Gray, 79, College Park, died March 22, 2008. He was preceded by his parents, Elmer T. and Alice Quinn Gray, and a brother, Tom Gray. Services were at the Evangelist Catholic Church, Hapeville, with the Rev. Father Ed Thein officiating. Interment was at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, College Park. Joel "Big Daddy" Ragland Sr.Joel "Big Daddy" Ragland Sr., 64, Newnan, died March 22, 2008. He was born July 11, 1943 in Heard County, the second son. He was preceded in death by his father, Willie B. Ragland, and brother, "Sonny" Ragland. He had received his education in the Heard County school system. He had joined the Elim Baptist Church at an early age, and was the proud owner of Ragland Brothers Repair and Towing. He was an original member of The Newnan Riders Club. Services were at St. Smyrna Baptist Church. Marie R. SmithMarie R. Smith, 54, Senoia, died March 25, 2008. She was preceded in death by her mother, Barbra A. Smith. Services will be private. Survivors include her a son, James Logan Carey; father, Howard E. Smith; sibling, Howard and Theresa Smith; and nephews, Logan Smith, and Joseph Smith. Dettmering, 85, Fayetteville, died March 29, 2008. He was born April 12, 1922 in Fayette County son of the late O'Neil L. "Whitey" and Louvale Brown Dettmering. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beth Dettmering and a daughter, Patsy Dettmering Abercrombie. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Seabees, 105th Naval Construction. He was retired from Ryder Truck Lines. He was a member of the Fayetteville First United Methodist Church, and a member of the Fayetteville Masonic Lodge F&AM #711. She was a volunteer with the American Red Cross during World War II and later served as an Embassy Nurse with the State Department. George KirschenbaumGeorge Kirschenbaum, Peachtree City, died March 26, 2008. He was born March 31, 1919 in Brooklyn, N. Y., one of eight brothers and sisters. He was veteran of the United States Army in World War II, serving in the European Theatre. He took part in many of the major battles, including the D-Day Normandy Invasion. He was a 32nd degree Mason. He had operated a jewelry store in Greenfield, Mass. His home was filled with classical music. He read the New York Times every day and loved discussing current affairs, and always had clearly defined opinions. He was an avid golfer with five holes-in-one to his credit. He golfed five times a week well into his 70s and walked the course, pulling his own cart. He played a round on his 88th birthday with his son. Kristi Nicole ParrishKristi Nicole Parrish, Fayetteville, formerly of East Point, died March 27, 2008. She was born March 30, 1973 in Fulton County. Services were at the Carl J. He then had a career as a production scheduler for a manufacturer of stationery supplies. He had worked for Wal-Mart where he was affectionately known as "J. T.".
