George Kirschenbaum, Peachtree City, died March 26, 2008. He was born March 31, 1919 in Brooklyn, N. Y., one of eight brothers and sisters. He was veteran of the United States Army in World War II, serving in the European Theatre. He took part in many of the major battles, including the D-Day Normandy Invasion. He was a 32nd degree Mason. He had operated a jewelry store in Greenfield, Mass. His home was filled with classical music. He read the New York Times every day and loved discussing current affairs, and always had clearly defined opinions. He was an avid golfer with five holes-in-one to his credit. He golfed five times a week well into his 70s and walked the course, pulling his own cart. He played a round on his 88th birthday with his son. Memorial services were at Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home chapel. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Claire Kirschenbaum, Peachtree City; a son, Seth Kirschenbaum, and his fiancée, Karla Tievsky, Atlanta; a daughter, Jill Kirschenbaum, Brooklyn, N. Y.; and brother, Arthur Kayen, Santa Rosa, Calif. Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home, Peachtree City, was in charge. login to post comments |
