Fairburn cops nab bank robbersBy JOHN MUNFORD For Fairburn Police officers E. Roque and Eddie Saavedra it was not the usual day on the beat. By noon time Tuesday the officers had apprehended two of the men sought in connection with the armed robbery of a Peachtree City bank just minutes earlier. The robbery at the Kedron Village Wachovia bank along Ga. Highway 74 was followed by a high-speed chase and the apprehension of two suspects as they emerged from a wooded area adjacent to Fieldstone Manor subdivision on Plantation Road. Fairburn completes annexationsFairburn continued its annexation process Oct. 23 and 26 with the city council voting to bring nearly 2,000 more acres into the city. Last week, she approached the Town Council about allowing a 1940s old-fashioned marquee to be placed on the front of the building. Commission approves setback variancesTyrone Planning commissioners Oct. 26 approved a variance request to reduce building setbacks in Swanson Valley subdivision from 65 feet to 50 feet on lots 24, 25, 26 and 27. The board voted 3-0 in favor of the request contingent upon the inclusion of a four-foot vegetative berm or a six-foot visual barrier and the applicant dedicating sufficient easement to connect the town’s path system. Armed robbery at Genesis Gardens Apts.A Palmetto man was arrested Oct. 22 in connection with an Oct. 11 armed robbery at Genesis Gardens Apartments. Donald Deloatch, 41, was charged with armed robbery in the incident at the apartments involving a Comcast Cable technician, said Palmetto Det. John Cooper.
