It was exciting to see someone that was willing to take on the most embarassing congressman in Washington, ours...Westmoreland. Yes, Mike McGraw is the real thing; intelligent, informed, impassioned and a true conservative Democrat with a heart! And, yes the man can debate as he tore Westmoreland a new one Wednesday night in front of 500 people, though not one TV station was there. What a shame!

The news (and the commentary about the news) has been a little difficult, lately. So, in order to change the tone, please share something nice that has happened to you. I'll start:

UGA sports and college degrees: The question is whether the emphasis of the management is to award degrees to athletes, or, award athletic scholarships to unqualified players. Isn't the answer obvious?

I just don't get it. Stage a ballgame or musical concert and you can sell out a stadium. People who can't get tickets will show up just to party in the parking lot. But have an admission-free debate in a school auditorium between contenders for a seat in the United States Congress, where decisions are made that affect every aspect of our lives and the well-being of our country, and you have empty seats. Sometimes I think the apathetic public gets exactly the government that it deserves.

I am totally amazed at the discussions that I've read on this site regarding the Dixie T-shirt ordeal. Suffice it to say that racial issues are still very prevalent and important in today's times.

Realize the enemy isn't a certain race, color, religion, or nationality. The real enemy is child abusers and molestors and other criminals.

The same 'history' and 'symbols' can have different meaning and bring up different emotions in citizens of the South. The Confederate Flag was the flag of the South during the Civil War.

Last I remember you were doing research on the “race” issue for a possible book.

Do you find it inappropriate, or not, for a school official, Mr. Mann, to have banned the image of the confederate flag in a public school?

We got 2 here and 1 in NC. If anyone has the SHORT LINE RR stamp I will split the $$. I figure 1 out of 4 is worth 1/4 of the money. That's $1.3 mil before taxes. What is there to research? The ACLU and the Gay / Lesbian Legal News found on the Queer Resource Directory did all the research for you. Either you agree with Judge Hunsteins leadership in giving mandatory benefits to gays and lesbians and legislating law from the bench or you are opposed to subsidizing this chosen lifestyle. I am not willing to classify the homosexual lifestyle in the same category as the heterosexual family. What’s next? I marry my dog to get the City of Atlanta to pay Fido’s vet bills? Or can I have multiple homosexual partners and provide them with lucrative benefits courtesy of the Georgia taxpayers and the Social Security Administration. Gee…my sister wants a tummy tuck. Does that mean I can get a civil union with her and let the taxpayers remove all that sloppy flab at their expense? Where does it end?

I never said the South was perfect. However the North was and is, in many ways, more racist than the South past or present. In 1741 New York burned blacks at the stake because they feared a slave rebellion. New York had the highest per capita number of slaves in America second only to Charleston South Carolina. Wall Street in New York City was built with slave labor. Northern states had "Black Laws" that prohibited blacks from moving into the state. This included Abraham Lincoln's state of Illinois. In 1863 New York City had draft riots and hung free blacks from the light poles in the city. The white residents did not want blacks to get their jobs while they were in the Union army. They even burned the black childrens orphanage. Even today the North is far more racist than the South. Jessee Jackson even admitted that blacks murder more blacks in one year than occured in 200 years of lynchings in the South. The Yankees hide it with their hypocrisy and the news media does not publicize it. The media hypes any incident that happens in the South and remains silent on incidents that happen in the North.

Buy an expensive home in Peachtree City, but send your kids to Tyrone schools? Mmmm...that makes perfect sense. What next?

The Yankee Problem in America
Since the 2000 presidential election, much attention has been paid to a map showing the sharp geographical division between the two candidates’ support. Gore prevailed in the power- and plunder-seeking Deep North (Northeast, Upper Midwest, Pacific Coast) and Bush in the regions inhabited by productive and decent Americans. There is nothing new about this. Historically speaking, it is just one more manifestation of the Yankee problem.

I came across some recent higway plans that reveal, upon completion, that this highway will be officially known as the "Confederate Memorial Highway."

What has happened to the blog section today? One person has resurrected the war that ended over 140 years ago with several blogs submitted today, almost as if the war is still going on. His blog along with a "racist in the making" teens blog, followed by what appears to be an area Klansman, and his tyrant of protests coming to Fayette makes us all look like ignorant racist idiots when viewed on the TV news.
