It's a Wonderful Life

The news (and the commentary about the news) has been a little difficult, lately. So, in order to change the tone, please share something nice that has happened to you. I'll start:

The other day, I was in Atlanta and after parking my car and walking through the front door of my destination, I realized that I had lost my 9-11 memorial lapel pin. Now, it isn't a particularly fancy pin, by any means. It didn't cost much but it has deep sentimental value to me. (I lost a friend in Tower 2.) So, I started to retrace my steps, frantically looking for my pin.

While I was walking with my eyes focused on the ground, this homeless man came up to me and said, "Did you lose something?" I was startled and afraid. Some of those folks are pretty scary. I sort of mumbled that I'd lost my pin. He said, "What did it look like? I'll help you look." I was running late for my appointment and so I described the pin. We walked along, in silence, looking at every inch of ground on the way.

After a few minutes, I found the pin near the parking lot and put it in my purse. He said, "Alright! You found it. Have a nice day!" and turned to walk away. I thought about the fact that he hadn't asked me for anything and that he looked so small. I offered to give him a few dollars for some coffee or a doughnut but he refused to take it. He just said, "You just have a blessed day" and walked away.

The gift of kindness is a gift that everyone can afford to give.

Is there a specific format that letters to the editor should be written in? Does the editor send ever send a reply, indicating that they recieved the letter? Also, how do you post blogs?

Wow,yes,it certainly is a nice change to read something heartwarming. Glad you found your pin.It was so sweet of that man to help you and by you just speaking to him,it may have made his day as most would ignore him.I agree that, that is one pin you don't want to lose. We are originally from L.I. and I also lost a friend, since elementary school,in one of the towers.
Regarding the armadillo's,we see the poor little armored critters along Highway 92 South all the time. Slow walkers. Please give them an extra inch or two and the little possums also, heck, give all wildlife a BRAKE.

I used to see armadilloes in Florida; I am surprised that they can be found this far north. I would have thought that it gets too cold here for them.

But do be careful about the deer. They can suddenly dart into the road and cause a lot of damage.

One of the neighbors saw it recently. We saw one cross Hwy 85 in Fay at the Pavilion 2 weekends ago. Kind of scary, but where does everyone think they will go when they keep clear cutting everywhere??

I love my 4 feeters, even the bad one. He is sooooo cute. I will post his picture.

Where in the enchanted forest have I landed, Dorothy? lol

I am surprised to hear the coyote was near the Pavillion. I would have thought that area was too densely populated.

Your fur "kid" is cute and he's probably not as bad as you say. Most aren't bad . . . just smart enough to keep us providing them free room and board. Eye-wink

and one bolted around the side of the house and to the back yard and starting "yelling" at something. Loud, loud, loud, rapid barking. I grabbed the flash light and saw 2 armadillos casually looking at my dog like, WTF?! we are just eating the bugs, would you go away now? They were not scared of her, just stood there looking at her like she was crazy. The armadillos often stand just on the other side of the fence and agg. the dogs on. It was quite funny after we were assured it was not our resident Coyote she was barking at.

Lol. They're always good for a laugh. especially when it involves inter-species communication.
