poipendicular: Attention landlords and property managers! In light of SB458 and Clayton's problems, there will be an influx of Clayton residents seeking rental properties to get their kids in our schools. oldbeachbear: Susan B and abortion for DDesperately Seeking Susan quick silver 9: Candidate for Sheriff David SimmonsFor the past few weeks I have read some of the blogs and articles for and against David Simmons and it appears to be an awful lot of back and forth about this particular candidate. Paul Perkins: Personhood according to the man on the streetRT Tugger: Preserve Jekyll Island's main public beachThe citizens of Fayette County took quick action last week to help change the language in HB 458 (though we need to keep watching this week to ensure it doesn't pass at all). I would like to urge those who love Jekyll Island to likewise take quick action to help keep alive amended Senate Bill SB 367, which has passed the Senate and is now in danger of NOT being placed on the House Rules Committee calendar, which means the amended bill will be neither heard nor voted upon. The amendment would prevent development on the large public beach north of the convention center. That beach would remain open and unobstructed rather than become covered with condos. Jekyll Island is a state park owned by the citizens of the State of Georgia. It IS going to be revitalized and developed, but this bill (WITH the amendment) would protect the large public beach as a public amenity. For more information on this, please go to www.savejekyllisland.org. The position of the group trying to protect Jekyll has been mischaracterized by developers and lobbyists, who stand to make enormous profits by building high-rise condos on public-owned land. At this point, phone calls should be made to Sen. Ross Tolleson (R-Perry) 404-656-0081, author of the original bill. Ask him to allow SB 367 to be heard in the House Rules Committee. He no longer wants the bill to be placed on the Rules Committee calendar because he believes the amendment will "jeopardize Jekyll's revitalization." It would also be helpful to call to Rep. Jerry Keen (R-St. Simons Island) 404-656-5052, member of the House Rules Committee, and urge him to help get SB 367 on the Rules Committee calendar. Time is running out, as the legislative session is almost over. BPR: It's Your Day MomHow do I begin to talk about my Mom- Mom does not live here anymore. Nothing else matters today- my focus is to honor my loving Mom who on this day 3 years ago went to live in heaven. AF A-10: All Swift Bloggers for Truth ( BPR, Skyspy, and Richard Hobbs in particular)Much of this information here is included in a reply to Richard that will soon be buried in internet debris, but I feel those actually seeking truth and not just looking to make indirect political attacks on Barack Obama might read this and re-evaluate your positions. sageadvice: InflationJust as was the case with too much borrowing for the last several years, by individuals and by the government, we now have too much inflation in food, fuel, taxes, and other items. NUK_1: Lost Black Pug-FayettevilleI Watch: Tyrone’s Planning Commission Shows Lack of Knowledge/ConcernAt their March 27 Hearing, Planning members apparently did not understand an applicant’s request for amendment and how it applied to their zoning ordinances. Commissioner Mary Sturm, told the applicant that his request for land uses were already allowed under Federal law. Town Attorney Davenport had to correct Ms. Sturm by telling her that zoning was the domain of State law and not Federal law. And that Tyrone’s ordinances were most applicable. It seems that the video-hosting site, 'Live Link' pulled the video today due to threats to the staff, of a "serious nature", because of the content of the video, which is highly critical of the Quran and Islam. If ever there was an argument for the Separation of Church and State, this is it, whether it is Islam, Christianity or any religion that strives for a theocratic society. I hope you are able to watch it, before it is pulled from Google, the only site I could find that was hosting the video tonight. And just a warning, it is rather graphic in case you have a weak stomach. sageadvice: Big old bankThe big old federal reserve funded by tithes. Not for me, not for you, I am afraid, smoothassilk: I have done my research on Mr. Dave Simmons & Tom1939First of all, Mr. Simmons was aware that his candidacy for sheriff would elicit a strong response from the “Good ol' Boys.” It’s unfortunate that people have to start negative innuendos or alluding to negative tactics while hiding behind the internet such as, for example, comments from Tom1939. Since Mr. Simmons was an executive in the Detroit Police Department, I would imagine that there were a few disgruntle employees that would like get back at him. It’s a shame that you (Tom1939) are using the internet to attempt anonymously to assassinate Simmons' fine record of achievements and I ask every blogger and reader to question your true motive. ittybittypretty: Hey.I'm new here so there might be some things that I need help with. Thank you. JeffC: School voucher questionAccording to the state DOE, Georgia spend $7,261.37 per child for education. School figures can be found here: CitizenBlogger: Ronnie Chance tells lies on Youtubehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3kKbLXq4Sy4 Watch this. Keep in mind that he supported a voucher bill last year and he was supporting one this year. He knew what he was doing. He wasn't misled. He is "with" Eric Johnson, not with the citizens and taxpayers of Fayette County. sageadvice: Restaurant "tips"The almost requirement that one leave a 10-20% of the bill tip for the help who only make $2 + dollars and hour, is similar to churches saying that 10% of your total income should be donated to the church. CitizenBlogger: Send message to Ronnie Chance - You can't be FOR public schools and FOR vouchersVouchers abandon public schools and drain away critical dollars. Vouchers divert attention, commitment and dollars from public schools to pay private school tuition for a few students, including many who already are in private school. abeautifulday4us: Who is running against Ronnie Chance?Maybe Ronnie Chance does not have kids or maybe he is so rich they go to private school. But if he did, he never would have voted to SHALL destroy our Fayette Schools the way he did. So-called Republican Dixiecrat Sonny Perdue and Kathy Cox have been in 6 years and Georgia is still 48th in the country. So if you can't do a darn thing right, you people should not be interfering with what our local school system is doing. We are already short on money. justcurious: Can someone tell me who is going to run against Ballard?I have not heard any official word on exactly who will be running against Scotty for the D.A.'s office - I'd just like t BPR: Poor Human RaceI refuse to speak like Mr. Wright does. Not that I agreed with slavery, but I waa not even here. IMNSHO: Why doesn't Fayette County stagger high school graduations more than they do?I asked this question last year, with no good answer given. I've asked the school board members and Dr. DeCotis, with no response. The staff at the high schools don't appear to know why, either. And yet, I have not personally met anyone who would have a problem with changing the schedule.
