ptcjenn: Friends in other counties can help with thisHey, I'm passing this along in case people in other parts of the state want to help out with this school situation. They might not have heard of it, and I figure the more areas that hear opposition , the better! I know of people in Cherokee and Coweta counties that are sending this to their representatives. yardman5508: Son of "of this and that"...With all the hoopla right now about the schools here in Fayette County and, of course, our neighboring county, I got to thinking about school governance and, what some of you call, our "government schools" system. It is really taking a beating these days and our representatives don't seem to be too concerned about that fact. Oh, we get alot of lip service, around election time, but we keep electing the same old guys to drive up to Atlanta, and represent the interests that are driving the educational systems downward. Mike King: Racism Vice Culturalism? With all the hoopla ongoing between the two Democratic candidates regarding the race issue, and now the somewhat implied racially toned issues facing us locally because of the imminent loss of accredidation of the Clayton County Schools, I submit that the issue is one of culturalism not race. loveptc: Police searchDoes anyone know the story of why the police were out searching today by helicopter and K-9 unit today around Hip Pocket jwald: Holding politicians accountableMessage for The Citizen: Before you allow the publication of another column by either Ronnie Chance or Matt Ramsey, plea mickc41: WHAT THE.....I agree that if Clayton County can't take care of their own problems, then the State definitely needs to step in and take over. buZZard: Georgia and US Government AgenciesHere is a good source “Government Resources” and to you can see “House of Representatives” and “Senate” at work for you. Inylak: clayton co citizenI agree with most of the opinions posted in this forum, however, I do feel that part of the reason clayton county is in such disarray is, because for the last 20 years there has been a continous exodus on the part of a segment of society who does not wish to get along with other segments of society. bowser: The origin of SB 458Front-page article in AJC on SB 458 doesn't mention the Fayette angle, but it does shed a little light on the broader context. CitizenBlogger: Ronnie Chance AGAINST Fayette County Schools.Check out Senator Ronnie Chance's voting record at http://www.votesmart.org/voting_category.php?can_id=31979. He sponsored the Special Needs Scholarship Act which is a private school voucher system that has public school money paying for private school tuition. That's less money for Fayette County Schools. hutch866: On a ligher noteFor our northern brethren to help you decipher what the southern DR. is saying. Redneck Medical Terms sageadvice: An impossibility! For those of you who seem frightened by Clayton County's school decertification, forget about it. The threat is a farce and will not happen. A report will be made of all the paperwork they plan to do to keep accreditation and that will be accepted by the state. Of course the big plans won't happen. thebeaver: The Perverse Worship of a Man"... a light will shine through that window, a beam of light will come down upon you, you will experience an epiphany ... and you will suddenly realize that you must go to the polls and vote for Obama" - Barack Obama Lebanon, New Hampshire. wildcat: funeral information for ZackArrangements for Zack Gallaway are as follows: thebeaver: Obama: Not a Crackpot Churchthebeaver: Typicallook to the future: SB 458 Clayton Co SchoolsBe aware!! Received an email notification that an amendment to this bill has been introduced in the state legislature that requires local school systems to accept students from an outside district whose school systems fails to meet accreditation standards. muddle: Wandering the Field of Dreams--or MemoriesTwo of my grandsons--7 and 3--are visiting. I for one, thought the speed traps would come down. We have only grown more 25/35 mph signs on roads with no side walks and a few lonesome cows you might endanger going a tremendous 40! We have the highest taxes in the county and the only thing to show for it is more police per taxpayer than anywhere else. We must have 4 for every 10 of us. yardman5508: Of this and that...I must apologize at the start for the somewhat rambling nature of this blog. I will eventually get to the point, but have to set the context first. |
