Rising Starr off to National Science Olympiad again
J.C. Booth and Rising
Starr Middle Schools will once again represent Georgia at the National
Science Olympiad Competition after earning first- and second-place honors,
respectively, at the state tournament. Last year, both schools were
ranked first and second in the nation with Rising Starr earning its
first-ever first place finish.

August of 1990, Andrew Roy entered J.C. Booth Middle School as part
of its first sixth-grade class. Within several months the United States
began Operation Desert Storm and students followed the news in class.

athletes qualify for state
Last
weekend the Peachtree City Flash Youth track team competed in the Georgia
Parks and Recreation Association 4th District Track Meet at Tara Stadium
in Jonesboro. The Flash sent a total of 44 athletes to this event, of
which 21 qualified for the state meet in Augusta.

Mother's
Day without Mom

For the first time
in my life, I will observe Mother's Day this year without my mother.
My Mom, Thelma Kathleen Luster Epps, died Feb. 24 of this year after
a long fight against lung disease and a short stay in the hospital.
Her death was not anticipated and, for me, is just now beginning to
sink in.
