Flash athletes qualify for state

Last weekend the Peachtree City Flash Youth track team competed in the Georgia Parks and Recreation Association 4th District Track Meet at Tara Stadium in Jonesboro. The Flash sent a total of 44 athletes to this event, of which 21 qualified for the state meet in Augusta.

Athletes who qualified for state competition are:

8-Under Girls

Alison Wilson - first in the 1600-meter run (7:24.16) and first in the 800-meter run (3:20.31).

Chelsea Bowman second in the 1600-meter run (7:34.29) and first in the running long jump (7'9").

Mackenzie Nail second in the 800-meter run (3:20.32) and third in the 400-meter run (1:22.90).

Kierra Rountree fourth in the 400-meter run (1:25.83) and fourth in the 200-meter dash (37.67).

Michaela Brown fourth in the softball throw (18'4").

8-Under Boys

Carson Brooks third in the 1600-meter run (7:13.15), second in the 800-meter run (3:18.34), and fourth in the standing long jump (4'9").

Ian Roberts second in the 1600-meter run (7:05.06) and third in the 800-meter run (3:27.99).

Will Smith second in the 400-meter run (1:24.36), second in the 200-meter dash (35.01) and first in the running long jump (11'1").

10-Under Girls

Hailey Smith first in the 1600-meter run (6:15.20) and second in the 800-meter run (7:16.28).

Claire Bohrer third in the 1600-meter run (7:16.28) and third in the shot put (13'4").

10-Under Boys

Matthew Donahue second in the 1600-meter run (6:27.19) and third in the 800-meter run.

Quentin Penn fourth in the 400-meter run (1:14.73).

Brandon Collins third in the 200-meter dash (31.92).

12-Under Girls

Shannon Phillips first in the 1600-meter run (5:46.37), first in the 800-meter run (2:43.45) and first in the high jump (4'2").

Mary Roberts second in the 1600-meter run (5:49.70) and third in the 800-meter run (2:48.19).

12-Under Boys

Zachary Laskey first in the 1600-meter run (5:50.35), second in the 800-meter run (2:44.03) and third in the running long jump (13'4").

Justin Jarrell second in the 1600-meter run (5:52.17) and fourth in the 800-meter run (2:47.65).

Austin Vorwald first in the high jump (4'1").

14-Under Girls

Whitney Huguelet first in the 1600-meter run (6:05.00) and first in the 800-meter run (2:49.53).

Chelsea Thoms first in the running long jump (9'7").

14-Under Boys

Mehamed Gomez first in the 1600-meter run (5:25.18) and fourth in the 800-meter run (2:30.63).
