Turtle helps raise funds for All Children's Playground

The All Children's Playground fundraising effort got a boost from an unlikely source recently a turtle.

Actually, a hand carved turtle that sits in "Turtle Pond" near the Planterra Golf Course clubhouse. From his vantage point the turtle oversaw the 8th Annual Turtle Open, a tournament that involved about 75 woman golfers.

The Turtle Open, also known as the Cat Fight Tournament, garnered $525 for the playground, making the tournament a Bronze Sponsor.

The All Children's Playground Committee is now raising funds to help build the third and final phase of the playground. The requirement has been lowered due to space limitations at Picnic Park, so the committee has to raise $50,000 instead of the original $100,000. They have about $40,000 to go.

The final phase will include swings and a tot lot for younger children.
