Army soldier makes official visit to Kedron

Fourth-grade students at Kedron Elementary received an official visit from U.S. Army Chief Warrant Officer Mike McCormick of Fort Gordon in response to the items they collected for the troops in the Middle East.

Students at the school shipped over 900 items such as baby wipes, bottled water and toilet paper to the deployed soldiers. McCormick made a special stop at the school to personally thank the students and to convey what their thoughtfulness meant to the troops.

"I want you to know how touched they [soldiers] were to hear from you. It meant a lot to them to know that you were thinking about them. What you did means more than you will ever know," McCormick told the students.

As a token of appreciation, each fourth grade classroom received a medal and badge representing McCormick's unit at Fort Gordon.
