Garden design focus of upcoming meeting

A rose is a rose, but combine it with iris and deutzia and you have a beautiful planting.

What makes a garden special? Why do some plant combinations work and others fall flat? Landscape architect Scott Colomb will share with the Backyard Association the fundamental basics of garden design and composition at the May 13 meeting at 7 p.m.

Colomb resides in Moreland and provides landscape architectural services throughout the Southeast. His projects range from the modest home landscapes to high-end estates. Colomb has instructed local design clinics, facilitating homeowners with workable landscape drawings. Don't miss this opportunity to receive expert advice from someone who successfully designs the most challenging landscapes.

The Backyard Association, sponsored by Coweta County Extension Service, is open to the public and meets at 7 p.m. the second Tuesday evening of each month except December. Reservations are required and admission is free. The sessions are held at the Coweta County Extension Service, 21 East Washington Street in Newnan. For more information, contact 770-254-2620.
