Rain played havoc with schedules in the first round of the state soccer playoffs, but most local teams had more trouble with the weather than their opponents and advanced easily.

McIntosh and Starr's Mill will host second-round matches in boys and girls competition. The Chiefs downed Valdosta 8-1 and will play Camden County, while the Panthers won 8-0 over Tift County and will host the Henry County-Windsor Forest winner.

The Lady Chiefs rolled over Lee County 15-1 and moved on to face Warner Robins. The Lady Panthers shut out Tift County 5-0 and will host the Eagle's Landing-Effingham County winner.

The Fayette County Tigers hit the road earlier this week and picked up a 5-2 win over Colquitt County. They will now play at Glynn Academy.

Also on the road, the Newnan Cougars topped Lowndes 3-2 and will now travel to Benedictine. The Lady Cougars went to Colquitt County and won by a 6-1 score; their second-round match is at St. Vincent's.

The East Coweta Lady Indians also have a lot of time on the road this week. They defeated Lowndes 4-0 and now travel to Glynn Academy for the round of 16.

In AAAA action, the Sandy Creek Lady Patriots lost 1-0 at Ware County.
