Work has begun on Lower Fayetteville improvements

After years of waiting, work has finally begun on the widening of Lower Fayetteville Road.

The work on widening of Lower Fayetteville Road has started October 12 at Greison Trail and is working toward the east. County officials said the first stage is staking and installing minor drainage structures and cross drain pipes. The project adds two feet of asphalt on each side of the road, softens some of the curves, improves the shoulders and replaces the bridge over Sullivan Creek. Officials also said that three traffic lights will also be added, although they are not part of this GRTA funded project. They are at Mary Freeman Road, Lora Smith and Sullivan Road. The main portion of the project is being funded by the transportation agency after Coweta County agreed to let Xpress buses run in the county. The contract for this project is for $5,938,311.32 and the projected completion date is February 2008.

County moves forward with comprehensive plan
