Senoia’s bustling Main Street should get even busier in the next few months.

The City Council unanimously approved granting a height variance to two proposed three-story buildings on Main Street Monday night. City administrator Richard Ferry said the buildings will be 42-ft. high, and exceed the current regulations by two feet.

The two buildings are being developed by Historic Development Ventures, which is owned by Riverwood Studio executives Scott Tigchelaar and Paul Lombardi.

During Monday night’s meeting, the developers said the first building will probably contain a restaurant or some commercial use on the first floor, and office uses on the second and third floors.

The drawings placed on Main Street show buildings built in the historical style of the city’s current downtown. The height variance was sought to allow the developers to add cornicing and further make the buildings blend in with the current downtown.
