A dedicated group of volunteers, led by retired Air Force Maj. Gen. Ted Mallory, are putting together a new veteran’s memorial park in Peachtree City.

The new memorial, to be located at Falcon Field, will be hard to miss. A full-size F-16 fighter jet is the centerpiece of the Veterans Memorial Park at Falcon Field, as the project is officially dubbed.

Nearly all Coweta schools make AYP

Results of the 2008-2009 report released by the Georgia State Department of Education (DOE) earlier this week showed that all three Coweta County high schools, all 18 elementary schools and four of Coweta County’s six middle schools made the required Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP). In total, 93 percent of Coweta schools met AYP requirements.

Development Authority names Wright as new president
