All Childrens Playground wins recognition; also honored are Partner's Pizza and Pascal's Bistro

Peachtree City's handicap-accessible playground recently was crowned the best playground in metro Atlanta by the website Atlanta.Momslikeme.com.

All Children's Playground got more than one-third of the vote with 36 percent, compared to first runner-up Bethesda Park Aquatic Center, Lawrenceville with 29 percent.

Two local restaurants also were recognized, as Partners Pizza in Peachtree City took home third place with 15 percent of the vote in the best pizza shop competition.

Pascal's Bistro in Peachtree City came in third place in the best date night restaurant category with 15 percent of the vote.

All Children's Playground, located in Picnic Park adjacent to the city hall and library buildings, is designed to accommodate children of all abilities including those who use wheelchairs or walkers to get around. Ramps to the taller areas and a rubberized surface are part of the design to improve mobility of handicapped children.

The playground was built almost exclusively with donations from local businesses and residents on land supplied by the city.

Yesterday, there were over 20 vehicles parked there from mostly Fulton county, some DeKalb, and some Clayton.
How nice that we can now share this city run park with EVERYONE in the greater Atlanta area. Guess they don't have any in these other counties.

Sharing this park with special needs children that do not live here does not bother me. Kids are kids no matter where they live. If they can come here and enjoy a facility which insulates them from injury I think it is great.

Hell, we subsidize a whole bunch of tennis players through the "World Class Tennis Center".....Why not help families who need help?

BTW--- how does it end up that one of the greatest things this community has done (see article on award) needed no city funds but we can expend a million dollars to bail out the failed tennis center?

Conclusion--- until the Play Park is overcrowded to the point where our community is impacted I am not concerned.

Looks like someone doesn't know how to play well with others. Lets not be selfish now.

Hey, I go to Atlanta once in a while for recreation!
Even Fulton.

Why do people on this site always seem to know the breakdown of what county vehicle are from in certain parking lots around town? Is it normal for people to pay that much attention to license plates whenever they go places?

But seriously, who cares who uses that park. Instead of griping about who uses it we should be congratulating PTC for creating and maintaining such a nice place for handicapped kids.

About the "out of county" tags:

There is no way to know how many "tags" it takes to excite some people! One or two might be enough.

Now about the use of the park (handicapped or not), I think the "real" problem is that the people from "out," have no park like it near them!
There are some things some counties do that others do not! Clayton County for instance has a magnificant performance hall and an above average university!
They could never handle lakes like ours, open to the public!

Why? It has to do with the lack of citizen cooperation to do it and the fact that they find it impossible to maintain!

Destructive behaviour in some places for which they seem to have no answer, and even in PTCs case---can't handle geese! Trying hard to look like the rest of Clayton!

(and using the term vehicle may be stretching things) continually leave trash in the park down the street from me, I tend to notice such things. I mean, how hard is for them to throw away their shot out worm buckets?

Now I don't frequent the park mentioned in the original article, but I'm curious as to any posted rules, etc. at said park.

Not about posted rules, but park can be rented out by in-county (one rate) and any out of county (higher rate). I didn't ask the rate difference. You get a permit that you are supposed to post somewhere there. You can sign up for 30 people and have 100 show up and no one will check it. There is no one on duty to check if you have a permit. Parks monitor position has been cut back, there is no one on duty at all to check park on Sundays.

The geese are a big problem though ... poop everywhere.

it has been given the sobriquet of Goose Poop Park. It is a good name for the conditions in that good park.

You do know that to enter such things all you have to do is fill out the flowery application and NOT mention the Goose Poop?

Same as PTC being # 8! Leave out the bad stuff.

Nobody every comes and does an IG of the place.

My god but you're suave. I apologize for our squabbles. Your posts call to mind the opening passages of Proust's Remembrance of Things Past -- but when from a long-distant past, the goose-pooping sobriquets subsist....

With such refinement, you no doubt know not only the entire French appellation system, but could easily tell the portion of the vineyard wherein the diabetic tom cat relieves himself.

Eye-wink

Fun aside, you get a gold scar. I mean star.

EE, my scars are keloid, thick, tannish and shiny. Not really golden as the fickle finger of fate has dictated keloid for trauma. And I have had plenty over my lifetime
