No serious injuries apparent in Hwy. 74 wreck

An early afternoon traffic accident Thursday in Peachtree City resulted in one man being transported to Atlanta Medical Center and three vehicles damaged.

The incident occurred as a man traveling northbound on Ga. Highway 74 in a pick-up truck failed to yield the right-of-way, striking a Peachtree City Police car as it traveled southbound, according to Fayette County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Brent Rowan. The impact forced the police car onto Paschall Road.

The truck then spun around and collided with a car waiting at the traffic light, striking it head-on, Rowan said.

Rowan said the only person injured was the driver of the pick-up truck, whose name is not currently known. The man suffered a laceration to his head and was conscious, said Rowan, and was transported to Atlanta Medical Center.

Rowan said charges are pending.

How did the truck "failed to yield the right away" if they both were in their respective lanes of travel? I'm I missing something? Puzzled

The truck turned left at the light of 74 and Paschall and struck the police car head on as it traveled south.

the how in this case is real fuzzy. One of them - probably the truck, had to be turning off the road in order to get into the front of the other. But why not say that? It has to be in the police report.

A better story is going to be the why - when pick up driver tries to explain his reasoning for wrecking a police car. Hope he tries to blame it on the cop, that will make for a very entertaining day in court.
