A Fayette man has been arrested for allegedly molesting a girl when she was between the ages of four and seven at a home in south Fayette County, officials said.

The following arrests were reported by local law enforcement agencies for the past two weeks. All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty:

Two armed men robbed the Ruby Tuesdays restaurant in Peachtree City late Sunday night, holding a gun to one employee’s head and forcing another to open the manager’s office and safe, police said today.

The owner of the Red Room bar in Peachtree City is disputing a witness’s account that his security personnel didn’t intervene when a Hampton man was struck outside the bar June 28 in what turned out a week later to have been a deadly blow.

Hearn fights back against charges

Former Fayette County Public Works Director Lee Hearn wishes the last days of his campaign for County Commissioner wouldn’t have turned out like this.

It was practically an exercise in civility, except for a question about open warrants. Candidates for sheriff, district attorney and probate judge attended the Fayette County Republican Party forum Thursday night at the Fayetteville Library, responding to questions posed before a standing-room only crowd.

A Senoia man was arrested Monday by Peachtree City police in connection with an investigation into an assault outside a nightclub June 28 that led to the death of a Hampton man.

James Armond Blackmon, 23, of Peeks Crossings, was charged with making false statements and writings.

The Coweta County Board of Education raised school meal prices in response to rising food prices for school system cafeterias.  The prices will allow the school system’s cafeteria’s to continue to be self-supporting.

The Coweta business owner accused of killing a Norcross construction worker Gaston Gonzales outside a work site June 28 on Trammell Road was granted bond June 7. A bond of $100,000 was set for Jason Veitch who is accused of murdering the Senoia Drywall sub-contractor. Veitch maintains the death was not intentional, saying that the shotgun he used to jab Gonzales went off.

It was as if a new day had dawned July 10 as Fayette County Dept. of Family & Children’s Services (DFCS) board members heard from new interim Director Bobby Cagle, the state DFCS Family Services Director temporarily filling the position left vacant after former Director Mary Davis was “reassigned” in June.

Bond issue to be decided in Superior Court

A Fairburn man accused of murder for assaulting a Hampton man outside a Peachtree City nightclub June 28 will remain in jail.

Jeremy Scott, 22, of Elder Street, Fairburn appeared in Fayette County Magistrate Court Wednesday afternoon. Chief Magistrate Charles R. Floyd Jr. bound Scott’s case over to Superior Court, as magistrates by law cannot set bond for murder.

Redistricting, out of county students among questions at Republican forum

The three incumbents and four challengers for seats on the Fayette County School Board answered questions Tuesday night at a candidate forum sponsored by the Fayette County Republican Party at The Gathering Place in Peachtree City.

Fayette County’s long-time number one lawman has tapped his department’s number two man to succeed him.

The winner of the four-man race next week will replace retiring Sheriff Randall Johnson, who Monday endorsed Lt. Colonel Wayne Hannah as his replacement. Johnson has served for 31 years in the top post.

A Fairburn man charged with murder for assaulting a Hampton man at a Peachtree City nightclub turned himself in early Tuesday afternoon, Peachtree City Police Chief H.C. “Skip” Clark said.

Jeremy Scott, 22, of Elder Street, Fairburn, is charged in the murder of Devan Abercrombie, 32, of Hampton, police said. Scott is also charged with aggravated assault for the incident which occurred outside The Red Room bar in the Westpark Walk shopping center, police said.

A gang by any other name is still a gang. And in the case of the “Kosovo Gang” from Peachtree City, three arrests have been made after a June 3 attack on an 18-year-old Fayetteville man in a dispute reportedly involving a girlfriend.

The Fayette County Commission signed off on the county’s $79 million budget June 28, but it was not the usual unanimous affirmation of the process.
