There’s nothing like taking a bite out of crime. In the case of four north Fayette men arrested Thursday night, it was a pretty big bite.

Sheriff’s investigators arrested the men in connection with a number of copper thefts, with two of the men each charged with 52 counts of theft by receiving. More charges against the four are pending.

Wesley Bowman, 17, and David Bohannon, 18, were each charged with 52 counts of theft by receiving and one count of felony possession of marijuana, according to sheriff’s spokesperson Belinda McCastle.

Ryan Collins, 18, was charged with felony theft and Jonathan Moss, 18, was charged with felony possession of marijuana, McCastle said.

The men all reside in unincorporated north Fayette County, McCastle said. Additional charges are pending on each of the suspects.

McCastle said the arrests tie in to five cases of theft, particularly copper theft.

McCastle said a sheriff’s burglary patrol on the road around 10 p.m. Thursday night observed suspected prowlers. Investigators later arrived at a Vista Lane address and subsequently arrested Bowman, Bohannon and Moss. Collins turned himself later, said McCastle.

Note: An update received from the sheriff's office Monday clarified that the marijuana charges for Bowman, Moss and Bohannon are misdemeanor possession charges.
