Senoia’s skyline should be a little bigger by the first quarter of 2009.

During the City Council meeting Monday night, developer Scott Tigchelaar said his company was ready to proceed with a new building on Main Street.

The building will sit across the street from the building that houses Redneck Gourmet and Maguire’s Irish Pub. The new building will also house a variety of uses, he said.

“We just signed a 10-year lease with Piedmont Physicians Group, so they will occupy the top floor,” Tigchelaar said.

On the street-level floor, an independent pharmacy is planned, complete with a drive-thru window and the basement will house a variety of shops.

“We’ve had a lot of request from businesses that are looking for smaller spaces, such as jewelry stores,” he added.

Tigchelaar said his company is facing a hard deadline of having the building opened March 1. The building will be built with insulated concrete, which should speed the building process.

“What it took us six months to do with the first building, we’ll be able to do in nine weeks,” he said.

Tigchelaar also confirmed the construction on brownstones near the city’s post office should start by mid-August.

In other news, the City Council agreed to add $2 to residents’ trash bills. The city leaders explained the number of man-hours and rising fuel cost led the city to determine if leaf and limb pickup could be outsourced. The city’s trash pickup provider, agreed to perform the services for $48,000 a year, which would save the city more than $20,000.
