A young man went into a drugstore and bought three boxes of chocolate: small, medium and large. When the pharmacist asked him about the three boxes, he said, “Well, I’m going over to a new girlfriend’s house for supper. Then we’re going out. If she only lets me hold her hand, then I’ll give her the small box. If she lets me kiss her on the cheek, then I’ll give her the medium box. A total of $8,500 was raised at last weekend’s yard sale for Ranch on Jesus Orphanage Ministries in Uganda, East Africa, held at Carriage Lane Presbyterian Church in Peachtree City. Sponsored by Pearl Ministries Inc., a local non-profit organization, this was the fourth such sale in Peachtree City.

Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran announces new worship times

The worship schedule at Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Peachtree City will change during August. On Aug. 16, Sunday evening worship returns at 6 p.m., but now it will take place in the Fellowship Hall. This is a relaxed, come-as-you-are service.

New GriefShare session starts Aug. 25 at FFBC

On Aug. 25, Fayetteville First Baptist Church will begin a new session of GriefShare, a 13-week Bible based program for those who have lost a loved one. The class meets each Tuesday from 6:30-8 p.m. Each class begins with a video followed by group discussion.

Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Peachtree City sent 42 high school students and sponsors to New Orleans July 22-26 for the triennial nation youth gathering. More than 37,000 from across the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America spent the time in learning and fellowship, in worship services in the SuperDome, and in service out in the community.

Conner, Jones to speak at PC Fellowship
The Emerging Daniel Company International, a Fayette County ministry of Aaron Evans, will sponsor two special sessions at Peachtree Christian Fellowship — one in August and another in September. Bobby Conner and his wife, Carolyn, will speak on Aug. 7 and Bob Jones and his wife, Bonnie, will speak on Sept. 11 and 12. Both events begin at 7 p.m. and are open to the public. All Saints hosts 58 children at 2nd summer music camp

All Saints Anglican Church in Peachtree City completed its second annual Summer Music Camp July 24 as 58 children received certificates of completion from the rector, Father Michael Fry.

Parents and staff enjoyed an end-of-camp musical program by the graduates, ages 5-12. Attendance was nearly twice that of the first year. The growth was attributed to the success of the first camp and increased publicity before the second camp.

Nashville singer-songwriter JP Williams and his wife, Irene Williams, will perform a full concert at North Fayette United Methodist Church (NFUMC), 847 New Hope Rd., Fayetteville, Saturday, Aug. 1 at 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Inman announces staff changes

Inman United Methodist Church recently announced changes to its church staff.

Betty Challey assumed duties as new church secretary on July 13. Challey was with The Southern Company for 34 years and served as church secretary for South Fayette Presbyterian Church (now the Summit).

‘Excellent Wife’ course to be offered

Local author Martha Peace, will teach her book, The Excellent Wife, Monday evenings from 7-8:30 p.m. beginning Monday, Aug. 31, at Faith Bible Church, 4907 Highway 34 East, Sharpsburg. The class will begin on Aug. 31, skip labor day, break after Dec. 7, resume on Jan. 5 and end on March 15.

‘Biblical Change’ starts Aug. 31

This fall, Faith Bible Church will offer a counseling course entitled “Biblical Change” which will be taught by Pastor David Birch. The classbegins Monday, Aug. 31 with registration and orientation. The class meets on Mondays from 7-9:30 p.m. at the church with the exception of Labor Day.

Branches plans Back-To-School Jam
The Branches Community Church will host a Back –To- School Jam/Cookout Saturday, Aug. 1, from 4-6 p.m. Free school supplies will be distributed during the event which will also include a Spoken Word contest, face painting, Wii sports (football) and jewelry making. On Sunday, July 19, New Hope Baptist Church broke ground at their South Campus to mark the start of construction for their new 5,800 square foot Student Center. Senior Pastor Rhys Stenner prayed and dedicated the ground and then climbed into a tractor to officially dig the first hole to get construction started.
