Alpha classes start next week

This month, All Saints Anglican, Peachtree City United Methodist (PTCUMC), and Providence United Methodist churches will all start the free Alpha course which is designed to answer basic questions about Christianity.

There is a series of questions asked of persons to be ordained (ordinands) in the United Methodist Church. They include things like, “have you belief in God?” and “Do you find the precepts of the United Methodist Church to be consistent with Christian doctrine?” There are a number of others, but that’s the gist. However, there are two that stand out to me: “Are you going on to perfection?” and “Do you expect to be made perfect in love?”

GriefShare begins in PTC next week

The Youth Choir of Flat Creek Baptist Church, Fayetteville, is redefining normal. It began in September 2008 with 16 youth and set a goal to reach 24 singers. As the group prepared to sing at the Georgia Baptist Reel Fest in January 2009 momentum continued and in February the goal was achieved. During spring break the group went on a mission tour to First Baptist Church, Estero, Fla. Then, on Youth Sunday, a new record was set with 35 singers.

GriefShare session starts Aug. 25 at Fayetteville First Baptist Church

On Aug. 25, Fayetteville First Baptist Church will begin a new session of GriefShare, a 13-week Bible based program for those who have lost a loved one. The class meets each Tuesday from 6:30-8 p.m. Each class begins with a video followed by group discussion.

Evangelist Darrell Hayes will lead a six-day session at Open Door Baptist Church in Senoia on “Understanding Other Religions,” Sunday, Aug. 30 through Friday, Sept. 4. The beliefs of the Seventh-Day Adventist, Jehovah’s Witness, Mormon, Hindu and Islamic faiths will be discussed.
