Pickpocket Scam on Elderly Around PTC

Fri, 01/15/2010 - 11:34am
By: 30YearResident

I heard today on WSB radio about a pickpocket ring targeting seniors around Newnan and PTC. WSB said there are descriptions and video on those responsible.
However, I've seen nothing on the local news websites about this and it's apparently been going on for a while.
Should the Citizen be positing photos from these videos so seniors and other citizens can be looking out for these scumbags?

that David's Mom hasn't chimed in. Not really.....

A SHAME that you did not feel compelled by any level of respect or appreciation to "CHIME IN" here!

or to "CHIME IN" here!

Oh, no surprise really. You find motivation to click and comment on a pickpocket story, but no need to comment on an officer down, right? Especially if you can't read one of Mudcat's Harmony Village zingers. THIS is why I pray for mercy every day.

Oh, and if you are wondering where David's mom's priorities are, she was praising a fallen officer RIGHT HERE! Not that the link would interest you.

Even the criminals incarcerated have a ‘code’. One of their rules is to leave the elderly alone. If one of us don’t get these scum, their buddies in jail sure will get them as even the criminals have a set of standards and these scum bags have broken the “criminal’s rules”!

Oh yeah, that's what Barry, Princess Pelosi and court jester Reid are planning to do. They claim it's legal. Evil

We are using our neighborhood video cameras (previously on the cartpaths) in shopping centers and other public places and we will have your scumbags on video. We may even be using decoys with weapons.

Wait until we frog march them or their videos in front of their parents in (just guessing here) Smokerise or Stoneybrook. Picking on elderly people and then picking their pockets is way beyond reasonable. these kids are cowards and I look forward to taking them down.

And you know what? They and their friends still read these blogs and they will continue doing the crime.

Stay tuned.

Scum who prey on the elderly are the lowest of bottom feeders.

You might want to consider "Harmony Village" as the place of residence instead of Smokerise or Stoneybrook.

These scum are much older black guys that need to have the photos posted at drug stores and supermarkets.

Apparently you guys missed quite a news story this past week.

Guess the criminal did not meet your pre-conditions.

But we lost one helluva man the day after Valentine's day.

You are running around responding to 5-week old posts. Is everything ok?

It took spyglass three days to ask where David's mom was. It took you
and thirty year three days to blame Harmony Village.

This police Officer was killed 6 days ago. When, by chance, should I expect you to blame a particular neighborhood and express your condolences to the family?

C'mon Hack, we know who the shooter was and where he lived----and we know where he is now---in the slammer!

Officer Vogt's story has moved off of the front page. What comments are made on a story are made in the first few days. We had so much to say about a pick pocket. Why those among us would reflexively blame harmony village is beyond me. And they could not find the time to pay respects to a fallen officer. What about his story failed to attract the usual bloggers? And worse, those who would dare call out David's mom while not having the decency to make a comment on a fallen officer are IMHO beyond reprehensible. Just my opinion.

My reasons for not using this blog to vent my sadness, outrage, frustration, grief, and condolences are mostly to prevent someone from using my post as a catalyst to their own soapbox.

I assure you, Kevin, this community is in mourning. We will deal with it in our own ways. I choose to deal with it in the "real world." Please don't tell me my way is wrong.

I too tend to remain silent on this blog when tragedies of this nature occur, for the same reason that you gave. My writing skills fail me when I try to convey what losing a policeman in the line of duty means to me, or the emotions that are stirred when a soldier comes home missing limbs. God Bless us all is really all I can say, but it is not all that I do.

It's not easy being the carbonunit

I support your positions--the absence of a comment does not in any way indicate an absence of sorrow for a particular incident. And we all have our individual rights and reasons to comment or not comment. Of course Hack has a right to his opinion but I don't remember seeing any sort of timely condolence post from him either. Rest easy.

Thanks to all of you for weighing in.

I do not for a minute want to imply silence on an issue is apathy.

i do believe that if you dare call someone out for a pickpocket comment (specifically Spyglass asking "where is David's Mom), you had best have a post right under hers thanking an officer for paying the ultimate price. We have grown so accustomed to crimes being used to advance a particular political or racial opinion that it is now the norm. Very sad.

I will go on record with this: If officer Vogt had been murdered by a black man, you would read streams of comments. Just like you do on pickpocket or shoplifting cases here. I believe with every ounce of my being that the usual crime and punishment posters chose to be silent on the murder of a police Lt but vocal on a pocket picker because their axe to grind is with a particular brand of perp.

At any rate, I know that this community has respect for law enforcement. Just wish we had the same respect for the people who live in Harmony Village as we do for those who live in Smokerise or Kedron Hills..

If they are behind it, they will get caught and punished. This is as bad as the dope who shot the horse.

Of course if God has a sense of humor, he'll let them mug Alex Thompson and Steve Black before they are caught. Why them? They are both elderly and they are the ones that put Harmony Village in our backyard. Alex did it knowingly, Black was simply unaware of what was going on (his specialty).

I take it you didn't watch the video. Don't think you'll find their parents in Stoneybrook or Smokerise. (They're too old.)

The police were taking away someone from Braelinn Kroger just as we arrived yesterday about 10AM. It was senior's day and the guy in the back of the car had the general appearance of the guys in the video. Nothing in the news though.

It was actually the sheriff's dept. picking up some guy on a warrant - not the pickpocket.

Wow, it is so unlike you to make assertions without having all of the facts!! Next time it happens you may need to be frogmarched yourself.
