A total of $8,500 was raised at last weekend’s yard sale for Ranch on Jesus Orphanage Ministries in Uganda, East Africa, held at Carriage Lane Presbyterian Church in Peachtree City. Sponsored by Pearl Ministries Inc., a local non-profit organization, this was the fourth such sale in Peachtree City. Hundreds of man hours went into organizing the mountains of donated items. Members of Carriage Lane, host of the sale, pulled together in this labor of love for the children that they have been assisting since 2004. Ranch on Jesus is a recognized Ugandan NGO (non-governmental organization) dedicated to improving the spiritual, physical, emotional, and educational wellbeing of orphans, needy children, and their families. “In a nation torn by war, disease, and poverty, Ranch on Jesus seeks to bring hope and healing to families and children through the light of the Gospel,” said Jamie Rosser Laslo, founder of Pearl Ministries. “The children at the ranch enjoy a safe, supportive family which strives to meet their daily needs and train them up in God’s Word.” Ranch on Jesus operates under the supervision of a Ugandan Board of Directors and the local church. Presently, 60 children live in the home near Kampala and over 300 attend the Primary School that Ranch on Jesus operates. Pearl Ministries, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit which exists to facilitate the growth and development of Ranch on Jesus Orphanage Ministries. In 2004, then 20-year-old college student and Fayette resident, Jamie Rosser, began this ministry after a trip to Uganda with her Covenant College professor. Now married and mother to a toddler, she and her husband, Scott Laslo, travel to Uganda annually to work directly with Ranch on Jesus. They spend the remainder of the year in the USA working fulltime for Pearl Ministries. The ministry has a child sponsorship program and receives support from individuals, churches and other organizations. The Laslos also bring back a wide variety of Ugandan jewelry and crafts which Pearl Ministries sells at churches and craft fairs.
