The Fayette County Health Department has already received some flu vaccine, but all the doses are spoken for as of Tuesday morning, according to County Nurse Manager Carolyn Callison.

PTC Council to hear Cedarcroft impact fee appeal

A Peachtree City developer is challenging the determination of how much it owes per lot in impact fees to the city.

The City Council will hear the appeal from Ravin Homes, developer of the Cedarcroft subdivision off MacDuff Parkway on the city’s west side. The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. tonight in the Floy Farr Room at the Peachtree City Library.

Two men involved in the noon-time armed robbery of a Peachtree City bank were arrested after they led police on a high-speed chase through Tyrone today, police said.

County draws a line on annexations

Fulton County Commissioners had their say on annexations of unincorporated land by south Fulton cities. The board recently adopted a resolution from Commissioner Bill Edwards saying the county will not approve any annexation proposals submitted after Sept. 30. The annexations are directly related to the passage of Senate Bill 552 earlier this year and the formation of the new City of South Fulton if approved by voters in June 2007.

Child charged with molestation

A 13 year-old Fairburn boy was charged Sept. 22 in the molestation of an eight year-old College Park girl in the bedroom of his home. The Fulton County District Attorney’s office is requesting the juvenile be tried as an adult due to the charges.

Palmetto Police are seeking two men wanted for aggravated armed robbery in an Oct. 9 hold-up at the Shell station at 400 Carlton Road. The men kicked the store clerk and struck him with a handgun after he complied with their order to lie on the floor.

Congressman Lynn Westmoreland at a town hall meeting Thursday in Peachtree City responded to numerous questions about his commitment to assist the hundreds of residents of Fayette and South Fulton counties experiencing illnesses they say are directly related to emissions from the Philip Services Corp. (PSC) waste treatment plant near Fairburn. Westmoreland’s call for the temporary closure of the plant came on the heels of a letter hours earlier to U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) calling for the closure. He told the two dozen in attendance the decision just weeks before the November election was not a political one.
