A man police were seeking in connection with a Fayetteville kidnapping case has turned himself in to authorities, police said.

Whether intended or not when the General Assembly earlier this year paved the way for the creation of the cities of Chattahoochee Hills and South Fulton, the cities of Union City, Fairburn and Palmetto have annexed 13,283 acres of land referenced in the Senate bills describing the boundaries of the new cities.

Two women were charged with enticing a child for indecent purposes in an Oct. 11 incident at Palmetto Elementary School. The mother of one of the students and an acquaintance were arrested the following day by Fulton County School Police after reports that they had two second grade girls urinate in cups in a school restroom. The reason the incident occurred is not known.

Another school is going up in South Fulton. This time it is South Fulton High School on Hall Road.

The school is situated on 128 acres and is expected to serve 1,850-2,000 students beginning in the 2008-2009 school year.

Fairburn Police have arrested a 14 year-old male and are seeking a 15 year-old on armed robbery charges in back to back incidents Oct. 24.

Palmetto Police are seeking a man in connection with an Oct. 31 home invasion. Residents in the home sustained no injuries in the incident.

A Tyrone worker’s plea has caused the state EPD to launch an investigation of possible air contamination from Georgia Masonry Supply.

For Fairburn Police officers E. Roque and Eddie Saavedra it was not the usual day on the beat. By noon time Tuesday the officers had apprehended two of the men sought in connection with the armed robbery of a Peachtree City bank just minutes earlier. The robbery at the Kedron Village Wachovia bank along Ga. Highway 74 was followed by a high-speed chase and the apprehension of two suspects as they emerged from a wooded area adjacent to Fieldstone Manor subdivision on Plantation Road.

The Sandy Creek High School dance team got in a celebratory mood Thursday afternoon during the school’s annual homecoming parade.

Fairburn continued its annexation process Oct. 23 and 26 with the city council voting to bring nearly 2,000 more acres into the city. Fairburn’s total annexations since August total 4,113 acres, accounting for an 88 percent increase in the city’s size.

Bethany Smith wants everything about her new theater in Tyrone to be first-class.

Last week, she approached the Town Council about allowing a 1940s old-fashioned marquee to be placed on the front of the building. Smith explained she had already scaled down the number of bulbs, and wanted the theater to be the showplace for the area.

Members of Palmetto Seniors Center have their hearts set on building a Memorial Garden at the center on Turner Avenue. A Fall Festival and Hobo Supper fundraising event for the project will be held at the center Nov. 3 from 5-8 PM to help raise needed funds.

Tyrone Planning commissioners Oct. 26 approved a variance request to reduce building setbacks in Swanson Valley subdivision from 65 feet to 50 feet on lots 24, 25, 26 and 27. The board voted 3-0 in favor of the request contingent upon the inclusion of a four-foot vegetative berm or a six-foot visual barrier and the applicant dedicating sufficient easement to connect the town’s path system.

A Palmetto man was arrested Oct. 22 in connection with an Oct. 11 armed robbery at Genesis Gardens Apartments.

Donald Deloatch, 41, was charged with armed robbery in the incident at the apartments involving a Comcast Cable technician, said Palmetto Det. John Cooper.

South Fulton’s population continues to swell. And with it comes the need for more schools. Groundbreakings for Oakley Township Elementary School and Jones-Hall Middle School earlier this week should help offset the growing need in growing area.
