Another school is going up in South Fulton. This time it is South Fulton High School on Hall Road.

The school is situated on 128 acres and is expected to serve 1,850-2,000 students beginning in the 2008-2009 school year.

With an anticipated cost of $53.6 million, the 340,817 square-foot facility will include multi-story academic and administrative areas for 97 instructional units, labs, media center, art suites, 700-seat performance hall and cafeteria and kitchen. Rounding out the offerings will be athletic venues such as a football stadium and practice field, baseball and softball fields and tennis courts. Site plans also call for out-of-door classrooms, bus and parent drop-off areas and parking for 628 vehicles.

Fulton County Schools Executive Director of Communications Mitzi Woody said the process of bringing the school to fruition was as much the work of South Fulton resident and design committee member Reggie Tatum as anyone. In many ways it should be called the Reggie Tatum School, she said.

South Fulton High School will be located on property adjacent to Renaissance Elementary and west of the new Jones-Hall Middle School.
