Police looking for recently paroled felon; woman unhurt in knifepoint robbery

Peachtree City police searched Tuesday for a recently paroled felon who robbed a woman at knifepoint Monday night in the parking lot of the Aberdeen Village Shopping Center.

John Wieland Homes is asking Peachtree City to re-approve an annexation that was approved last year for 475 homes on a 379-acre parcel north of the Centennial subdivision off MacDuff Parkway.

A development agreement for a new shopping center on Ga. Highway 54 West spells it out clearly: Peachtree City agrees not to oppose the application for a traffic light at Hwy. 54 and Line Creek Drive that would serve the development.

A proposal to add a fifth traffic light on Ga. Highway 54 West between Ga. Highway 74 and the Peachtree City limits will at least sit on the shelf a little longer.

On Thursday morning, December 18, between midnight and 8:00 a.m. several residential mailboxes in the Planterra Ridge Subdivision were damaged, according to Peachtree City Police. It appeared that the mailboxes were possibly struck with a blue metal baseball bat. During the same time frame, numerous tires of vehicles parked on the streets were punctured, officers said.

Proposal would ban 17 and under from using phone while driving

A proposed law that would ban teens under 18 from using their cellphones while driving will be the topic of a special meeting of the Youth Council Serving Fayette County Monday, Jan. 5. at 7 p.m. at City Hall in Peachtree City.

A proposal could make its way through the Georgia Legislature this coming session which would allow Georgia cities and counties to hire private firms to handle their tax collection in lieu of the state Department of Revenue.
