Police looking for recently paroled felon; woman unhurt in knifepoint robbery Peachtree City police searched Tuesday for a recently paroled felon who robbed a woman at knifepoint Monday night in the parking lot of the Aberdeen Village Shopping Center. Authorities believed as of Tuesday morning that Ronald Dale Smith, 35, was still in town, and police canvassed local businesses to show his photo and a description of the stolen car in hopes of locating him. Arrest warrants have been issued for Smith, who approached the victim as she was getting out of her car, a black 1994 Toyota Celica, near Partner’s Pizza just after 8 p.m., police said. The car had a Georgia tag of 196 ZZL, police said. Smith is described as a white male, six feet tall with brown hair and brown eyes. Prior to the incident Smith had been with a friend inside the Y-Knot sports bar just a few doors down from Partner’s, police said. Smith approached the woman as she got out of her car, first demanding the victim’s car keys, police said. After she hesitated, Smith displayed a knife and again demanded the keys, police said. Smith took the car and also the victim’s purse and left the area, police said. The victim was unhurt. Police said Smith was recently paroled from Autry State Prison in south Georgia for fleeing and attempting to elude a police officer and homicide by vehicle, charges prosecuted in Carroll County. login to post comments |
