Moonset over Lake Peachtree

Debbie Anderson of Peachtree City reports she was so impressed with the brightness of the full moon that she photographed it around 6 a.m. Dec. 12 as it was setting across Lake Peachtree. She used a Nikon D300 with a Nikkor 85mm/f1.4 lens. Turns out the moon was at its brightest and closest to earth in its full phase since 1993. Photo/Debbie Anderson.

This reminds me of the only time I did a long exposure of the moon in the pitch black of night. This was with a film camera (the Nikon N70 to be precise).

It had the same effect: the sky was this same shade of blue. I assume it's because the moonbeams have enough "time" to light up the atmosphere.

I think my exposure was about 30 seconds.

Speaking of film, haven't shot a roll in about a year or more. Digital finally caught up (D300 in particular) and I haven't looked back. Well, not much anyway.
