On Saturday, beginning at 5 p.m., Braelinn Elementary School PTO will host “An Evening with the Stars Festival”. The event will benefit the replacing of the school’s 16-year old gym floor.

A group of students from McIntosh High School have put together a Guitar Hero II tournament in an effort to raise money for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta in the name of Child’s Play, a charity organization that doantes videogames, toys, movies, etc. to children’s hospitals all over the world.

Off-duty Fairburn firefighter Sgt. Paul Bell and his wife Emily, a nurse at Southern Regional Hospital, were nearing their home on Strickland Street in Fairburn on the afternoon of April 9 when they spotted smoke coming from a house a few doors away.

Tyrone Town Manager Barry Amos confirmed this week the town is looking to increase its sewer capacity from the city of Fairburn.

The Coweta County Commission has set a Tuesday evening vote on the biggest development in the county's history. Developer Tom Reese's McIntosh Village could bring more than $1 billion in revenue to the county and state after it's completed in 15 years. The village, located near Sharpsburg and bordering Peachtree City, would be home to nearly 9,000 residents and a commercial component half the size of the Fayette Pavilion. The vote is set for 6 p.m. Tuesday night at the county administrative complex in Newnan.

DOT officials announced Friday the southbound outside lane of Interstate 85 in Coweta County will be closed each day from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. from April 16, through April 19, beginning at Mile Post 47 south to Mile Post 45. Also beginning Monday, April 16, through Thursday, April 19, the north bound outside lane will be closed daily from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. beginning at Mile Post 41 north to Mile Post 42. This closure is due to the widening and lane reconstruction project currently underway. Shoulders are closed in these construction areas, and extreme caution should be observed.

Sen. Mitch Seabaugh hosted a group of students from the 28th Senate District at the Capitol in February and March. The students served as pages for the Senate on their assigned day. They were granted access to the Senate Chamber for the day and were responsible for delivering messages to the Senators on the floor. The pages were also called on to run special errands.
