Making history: Whitewater defeats Creek 4-1, wins first-ever region championshipThe Whitewater Lady Wildcats now have a region championship to go along with their top ranking in the state. Whitewater relied on clutch hitting, scoring all its runs with two outs, and the right arm of Whitney Toler, who pitched a three-hitter, to defeat the Sandy Creek Lady Patriots 4-1 in the Region 5-AAAA championship game Friday at Starr’s Mill High School in Fayetteville. The outcome of the Oct. 9 work session was designed to solve the issue of the overlapping boundaries of the Main Street District and Traditional Residential area included in the town’s Comprehensive Plan and the Town Center District included in the zoning ordinance. Currently under consideration is a proposal to do away with the Main Street District by wrapping it into and expanding the Town Center District while squaring off and expanding the Traditional Residential area. Tyrone cyclist injured in PTC crashA Tyrone man was injured Thursday afternoon in a traffic accident at Ga. Highway 74 and Ga. Highway 54. The man was life-flighted to Atlanta Medical Center with unknown injuries. Sketch of PTC robbery suspect releasedPeachtree City police have released this sketch of the person who robbed the Music and Arts store at The Avenue in Peachtree City Sunday morning. The suspect had a tattoo on his neck that says "Thug" in cursive or script writing, said Capt. Rosanna Dove of the Peachtree City Police Department. The suspect also had a tattoo that began near his wrist, but the victim only saw a small part of it, Dove said.
