Music and Arts store in PTC robbed

The Music and Arts store at The Avenue in Peachtree City was robbed today, police said.

The suspect approached and followed an employee into the store from the back door and took an undisclosed amount of money, police said.

28th annual PTC Classic attracts able and disabled world class athletes alike

Fresh off his win at the Akron Marathon in Ohio on September 27th, Birhanu Wukaw of Ethiopia is looking forward to extending his winning streak at the Peachtree City Classic 15K race on Saturday, Oct. 18. Birhanu ran a 2:23:12 to defeat his next closest competitor by over three minutes. His teammate on the Foot Solutions Elite Racing Team, Sergey Kaledin from Russia, was the Men’s Masters winner and fourth overall in a time of 2:32:40. These two elite racers will be toeing the line when the gun signals the start of the first of three races come Oct. 18.

Sumner Road now OK for golf carts

The Fayette County Commission voted unanimously to authorize Sumner Road as a street for motorized golf cart usage. The vote now legally allows residents in The Landings subdivision just east of the city limits to use the road for access to Peachtree City.

Piedmont Fayette gets first annexation approval

Piedmont Fayette Hospital is halfway home on its request to rezone 17.85 acres north of the facility for a future day care center and additional parking. The Fayetteville Planning and Zoning Commission Sept. 23 voted to recommend the request to the City Council.
