A Fayetteville man was arrested on drug charges Sept. 30 after an officer was unable to get a response from him when his car was found in the drive-thru lane at the Chick-fil-A restaurant at Banks Station shopping center.

Richard D. Waters, 18, was charged with felony possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession dangerous drugs without a prescription, said Fayetteville Police spokesperson Steve Crawshaw.

The incident occurred at 3:45 a.m. when an officer approached the vehicle in the restaurant’s drive-thru lane, Crawshaw said. Unable to get a response from the occupant by tapping on the glass, the officer went around to the driver’s side, finding the window down, Crawshaw said.

The officer made contact with Waters, who said that he got lost in the city. Waters was unable to explain how he became lost in the city where he lives, said Crawshaw. Waters said he had stopped a Fairburn officer while in that city and had asked directions to Fayetteville, Crawshaw said. A subsequent call to Fairburn Police could not substantiate Waters’ statement, said Crawshaw.

The police supervisor on duty arrived at Chick-fil-A and obtained permission to search the vehicle, Crawshaw said. The search revealed two bags containing approximately two ounces of marijuana, another bag containing 11 blue pills believed to be Xanax and a “roach” in the center console, said Crawshaw.

Two ounces? hardly intent to distribute. I dont care if it was divvied up into .5 ounce bags. In my opion softer drug cases, which this certainly is, should be treated more with community service rather than jail time. Jail time cost alot of money. Commuinty service costs little. And from what ive been told is usually manual labor that isnt a bit of fun.

One roach around a restaurant isn't unusual, is it?
If two ounces of maryjane makes one a distributor, the stuff must be pretty expensive?
Those blue pill were Aleve or stomach acid pills, I'll bet.

Sleeping in a drive through though is serious business. He needs to get about five years for that.

that "Chick-fil-a" is a very clean place. Ive never worked there but I know several people who do/have. Trust me, if you want your fast food prepared in a clean place Chick-fil-a is the place. Also read Truett Cathy's book. Dont know who he is? ... Are you a Georgian?
