Could it be that this forum will be used to promote the BoE's SPLOST proposition? If so, I certainly hope they have a better argument than: "We're one of only 3 counties that don't have one" or threats designed to scare people into supporting more taxes.

Less than 100 did. It was a fairly academic discussion of school funding. Dr Decotis did go over the FCBOE discussion deck and then we all got to ask questions. Just like the school board meetings, we all want to complain but don't want to take the time to find out what is going on.

Best way to not get scared is to get the FACTS.

We are one of 3 school systems out of the approximately 180 school systems in Georgia that do not use a E-SPLOST to fund their schools. That is a fact. Wayne county is another, they had one and let it expire when the projects were done. Call them and ask, I did.

Does that mean that we should do what they do? No.

Does that mean the other systems have a funding advantage over us and may gradually pass us in performance? Maybe

Does this mean that funding for FCBOE schools premium programs will go down over time as Sonny and the republicans continue to cut state funding while increasing state mandates? Yes

FACT: The state school finance person was there last night and said in writing ( on a powerpoint ), the state funding cut is AT LEAST 2 % this year (After our budget was passed). And will be AT LEAST 3.5% around $4 Million next year.

Even if you don't want another tax ( I don't ) get the facts and know what you oppose. No personalities, no emotion. Just numbers.

Your statements carry so much more weight when they are posted correctly, especially when you are discussing education. You should have went?? Someone should have gone to a third grade english/grammar book.
