Tyrone pd looking for leads in burglary

A daytime burglary Oct. 28 at a Foxford Run residence in Tyrone resulted in the theft of a large flat screen television and a laptop computer. Police advise residents to be aware of their surroundings and report unusual activity in neighborhoods.

Bowen convicted of child molestation

Former Rising Starr Middle School teacher and Senoia resident Craig Bowen was convicted Oct. 28 in Coweta Superior Court on four counts of child molestation. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison and 5 years probation.

The new look of Coweta County’s historic courthouse is underway. Visible now from the street is an unobstructed view of the courthouse, now in its rehabilitation phase, with the removal of the old water oak trees and one magnolia. The last of the 100 year-old oaks was removed Wednesday.

Coweta sues Shell Oil over water pipes

Coweta County Water and Sewerage Authority (CCWSA) and Coweta County filed suit against Shell Oil Company Oct. 23 for $25 million and damages over faulty water pipes that have cost the county millions to repair. The suit alleges breach of contract, negligence, product liability, fraud and violations of the Georgia Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act over the misrepresentation, marketing and sale of Blu-Max pipe, which uses a polybutylene resin manufactured by Shell.

Arrest made in Sharpsburg home invasion

One arrest has been made and others are pending in an Oct. 27 home invasion in Sharpsburg where a couple was pistol whipped and one of their vehicles stolen.

Intersection closure changed to this weekend

The intersection of Raymond Hill Road and Fischer Rd will be closed November 1 and 2. The planned closing last weekend could not be accomplished due to inclement weather.

One of Peachtree City’s oldest industrial tenants is poised for a major growth spurt.

Sonny Perdue and NCR Corporation Senior Vice President Christine Wallace announced Tuesday that NCR, a Fortune 500 technology company, will establish a global Center of Excellence in Georgia, co-locating several key components of its Worldwide Customer Service operations and creating 916 new jobs in the next 26 months.

PTC shopping center plan shrinks

The latest plan for a shopping center at the corner of Planterra Way and Ga. Highway 54 is a little bit smaller.

One of the proposed tenants, a sporting goods retailer, has backed out of its previous commitment, so the plan has been tweaked a little to compensate. The net result is the shopping center has been trimmed from 175,000 square feet to about 165,000 square feet, said Doug McMurrain of Capital City Development.

36% of Fayette’s voters line up to cast ballots early
