A north Fayette resident was saved early Wednesday morning when a smoke alarm awoke him after his space heater caught fire.

Thursday night was the final meeting of the year for the Tyrone Town Council and it was a busy one.

After dealing with the problem of a busted septic tank at the Millbrook subdivision, the council honored council members Lisa Richardson, who had served on the council for a total of 22 years, and Lyn Redwood, who had served for two years, with plaques and then moved on to the meeting’s agenda.

Help sought for family devastated by fire

Christmas will be a bit tougher this year for a Peachtree City family whose home burned down Monday afternoon.

The family, which includes three children — boys ages 11 and 12 and a girl age 10 — has had plenty of clothing assistance. They temporarily stayed in a hotel after the fire, but will need some items for their new home when they can move in, officials said.

The League of Fine Artists South (LOFAS) will exhibit in the gallery at The Winery -Chateau Élan in December.
