A Peachtree City man was arrested last week after he backed into a police cruiser twice when he was pulled over for suspicion of driving under the influence, police said.

Sharis H. Williams, 32, of Harbor Loop, was stopped by an officer for the first time near the intersection of Ga. Highway 74 and Crosstown Road; as the officer got out of the car, Williams began to back up, striking the patrol car, said Police Chief James Murray.

Williams then drove away at a low speed before stopping again at the Harmony Village Apartment complex, where he backed up into a patrol car a second time after initially stopping, Murray said.

Williams is charged with two counts of aggravated assault on a police officer, fleeing and attempting to elude a police officer, DUI, two counts of hit and run, reckless driving, obstruction of a police officer, making an improper turn, speeding and driving without a license. He was also charged for an outstanding warrant from the city of Atlanta for violation of probation.
