Several band students at McIntosh High School have been successful in their auditions and participation in honor bands throughout the state.

Megan McBrayer, Jordan Dale, and Louisa Kalinke passed the first round audition for the Governors Honor Program. The Governor's Honors Program is a six-week summer instructional program designed to provide intellectually gifted and artistically talented high school students challenging and enriching educational opportunities not usually available during the regular school year. These three band students were among eight school-wide at McIntosh who passed the first round audition. The second round audition will be held in February and will include a solo piece and theory test.

James Reilly passed the first round audition for AllState Jazz band, which enabled him to participate in a Jazz Clinic held at North Georgia College Dec. 1-2. During the jazz clinic the students were divided into different performing groups where they had top jazz instruction and guest conductors. To round out the clinic, the groups then performed for each other and for their parents.

Jason Colbert and Justin Eason participated in the West Georgia Honor Band Dec. 8-9. The honor band worked with the Fort McPherson Band Director on Thursday and Friday and then gave an incredible concert on Friday night.

McIntosh High School faculty, students and parents are all very proud of these students' accomplishments.
